Miracles Of The Last Prophet Muhammad صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ
Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ sent his
prophets for the guidance of human being at different times and also blessed them
with miracles as proof of their Prophethood. There is no prophet who is not blessed
with miracles but, the miracles of beloved Rasool Hazrat Muhammad صَلَّی
اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ are manifest,
frequent, and countless. Let’s look on the Holy Quran, it is a miracle but
having a lots of miracles in it as the demand of only one Surah like Quran made
the great poet of Arabia powerless. The earlier prophets showed miracles in
their time but the presence of those miracles ended up with the passage of time.
The people of their time looked those miracles but these cannot be seen now.
The greatness of miracles of Holy Prophet صَلَّی اللہُ
تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ is that these can be seen and noted till
now and will be till the end of the world. When unbelievers demanded for the
sensible ordinary miracles from Holy prophet صَلَّی اللہُ
تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ then Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ
replied them in these words:
اَوَ لَمْ یَكْفِهِمْ اَنَّاۤ اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَیْكَ الْكِتٰبَ
یُتْلٰى عَلَیْهِمْؕ-اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَرَحْمَةً وَّ ذِكْرٰى لِقَوْمٍ یُّؤْمِنُوْنَ۠(۵۱)
“Is it not enough for them that We have
sent down the Book upon you, which is read to them? Indeed in it is mercy and
advice for the Muslims”.
(Al ankboot, 51)
The greatest evidence of the Prophethood
of Holy Prophet صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ
وَسَلَّمَ is the Holy Quran. The reason is that the other prophets showed
miracles to prove the truthfulness of their revelation but in this case the
revelation is itself a miracle to prove its truthfulness and it does not need
any other evidence.
Shabe-e-Miraaj: Miraaj, the Ascension of Holy Prophet صَلَّی اللہُ
تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ to heavens is
another greatest miracle. The event of Miraaj occurred a year before the
migration of Holy prophet صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ
وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ from Makkah to Madina. He صَلَّی
اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ traveled from Kaaba
to Masjid Aqsa in Jerusalem on the Buraaq and from there towards the heaven,
where he صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ
met different prophets of Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ. The beloved Rasool صَلَّی
اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ visited the Jannah
and then he went to meet his Lord, the Almighty Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ.
Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ talked to him and he صَلَّی
اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ saw Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ
with his real eyes. Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ gave him the gift of
prayers for his Ummah. From here he descended to Jerusalem and then to Makkah
safe and sound in the same night. This event is described in Holy Quran in
these words:
سُبْحٰنَ الَّذِیْۤ
اَسْرٰى بِعَبْدِهٖ لَیْلًا مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ اِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ
الْاَقْصَا الَّذِیْ بٰرَكْنَا حَوْلَهٗ لِنُرِیَهٗ مِنْ اٰیٰتِنَاؕ-اِنَّهٗ هُوَ
السَّمِیْعُ الْبَصِیْرُ(۱)
“Glory be to Him Who took His bondsman by
night from the Sacred Masjid to the Masjid Ul Aqsa around which We have placed
blessing, in order that We may show him Our great signs; indeed he is hearing,
seeing.”
(Bani
Israel, 1)
Splitting of Moon: This miracle was happened on the demand
of disbelievers. The beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ
تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ splatted the moon into two pieces with the
sign of his finger. The moon got into two pieces, the one piece was on one
mountain and the other was on the other but the disbelievers said it as an
illusion and magic. Holy Quran mentions this occasion in these words:
اِقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ
وَ انْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ(۱)وَ
اِنْ یَّرَوْا اٰیَةً یُّعْرِضُوْا وَ یَقُوْلُوْا سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ(۲)
“The Last Day came near, and the moon has
split (with the indication of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad the moon split into
two halves). And when they (disbelievers) see a sign, they turn away their
faces and say, “this is just an on-going magic.”
(Al Qamar, 1, 2)
Returning of Sun: Once Hazrat Ali could not pray the Asar
prayer at time because he رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ was keeping
the head of beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ
وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ on his leap and sun sat but it returned back
by the prayer of beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ
تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ. Hazrat Ali offered
prayer and then the sun sat down.
Making Alive the Dead: Holy prophet صَلَّی اللہُ
تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ made the dead alive many times in his
life. Once he صَلَّی اللہُ
تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ called a person towards Islam but he demanded a miracle in this
way that he صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ
make his girl alive. The beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ went on the grave of his girl and called
her. The girl stood up from her grave in obedience of beloved Rasool صَلَّی
اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ. Many other such
occasions were also noted.
The Change of Effect and Response of Things: The things which were used by the
beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ
وَسَلَّمَ were changed in their reality. The response of things changed and
this happened abundantly in the apparent life of beloved Prophet صَلَّی
اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ. Narrated Anas bin Malik: Once the people
got frightened, so Allah's Messenger صَلَّی اللہُ
تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ rode a slow horse belongs to Abu Talha, and he set out all alone,
making the horse gallop. Then the people rode, making their horses gallop after
him. On his return he said, "Don't be afraid (there is nothing to be
afraid of) (and I have found) this horse a very fast one." That horse was
never excelled in running hence forward.
Attestation from Babies: The babies and children who did
not speak any word before attested the Prophethood of beloved Rasool صَلَّی
اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ. Once a woman brought his son in front of beloved Rasool صَلَّی
اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ and told he did not speak from his birth. Holy prophet صَلَّی
اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ asked from him “who is me?” The boy replied “you are the Prophet
of Allah عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.”
Curing the ill Persons: There are many incidents in
the life of beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ
وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ that he صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ
وَسَلَّمَ cured the ill
persons. A person who had lost his eyesight of both eyes got it back by the prayer
of Holy prophet صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ
وَسَلَّمَ. At the time of the battle of Khyber,
Hazrat Ali رَضِیَ اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَنْہwas
suffering from ophthalmic and he was cured by application of the spittle of
beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ
وَسَلَّمَ on his eyes.
Increasing the Food: At the time of battle of Tabuk there was shortage of food and there was nothing to eat. The
beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ
وَسَلَّمَ asked his companions to bring whatever food was left with them.
Then he صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ
read something over it and ordered the people to take from it as much as they
wanted. All the people filled their vessels with food and the remaining food
was as it was before division.
The Acceptance
of Prayers: The prayers
of Holy prophet صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ
وَسَلَّمَ were accepted by Allah عَزَّوَجَلَّ
whenever he صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ do it. This
is one of his great miracles. This topic includes vast stories however some are
described:
Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
“Once the Prophet entered a lavatory and I
placed water for his Wudu. He asked, "Who placed it?" He was informed
accordingly and so he said, "O Allah! Make him (Ibn `Abbas) a learned
scholar in religion (Islam). So with the blessing of this Dua Ibn e Abbas became
the big scholar of this Ummah and he is a authority in the tafseer of Quran.”
Flowing of Water from His Fingers: Narrated Salim bin Abi Aj-Jad: Jabir bin `Abdullah said, "The
people became very thirsty on the day of Al-Hudaibiya (Treaty). A small pot
containing some water was in front of the Prophet and when he had finished the
Wudu, the people rushed towards him. He asked, 'What is the problem?' They
replied, 'We have no water either for performing Wudu or for drinking except
what is present in front of you.' So he placed his hand in that pot and the
water started flowing among his fingers like springs. We all drank and
performed Wudu (from it)." I asked Jabir, "How many were you?"
he replied, "Even if we had been one-hundred-thousand, it would have been
sufficient for us, but we were fifteen-hundred."
The Holy Prophet صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ
وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ talked with animals, trees and other non-living things and these
all also saluted him and attested his Prophethood. There are lots of incidents
in this regard; all of them could not be explained here. The miracles of
beloved Rasool صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ
وَسَلَّمَ are countless. It is
impossible to describe all of these. The Holy Prophet صَلَّی اللہُ
تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ وَسَلَّمَ knew the hidden news and also
described the incidents which will occur till the Day of Judgment. The news
given by Holy Prophet صَلَّی اللہُ تَعَالٰی عَلَیْہِ وَاٰلِہٖ
وَسَلَّمَ for the future are
all true which happened till the day and will be true till the end of the
world.
